Calumet Heritage Area Calender Launched
We are very excited to launch the Calumet Heritage Area program and events calendar! This new and interactive calendar is a go-to resource for all programming and events that are happening in the Calumet that are related to the Heritage Area’s themes of nature, industry, and culture. Calumet Heritage Partnership and Calumet Collaborative are partnering with Field Museum to elevate the rich stories of heritage and promote the natural, industrial, and cultural assets of the Calumet Region, and this calendar will raise awareness of the events and programs that bring these stories to life. The Calumet Curators group is compiling a guide to the Calumet region’s many heritage-based museums, galleries, and local history centers. A draft version of the guide is available here for review and comment. Please send corrections or questions to Madeleine Tudor at [email protected].

Revised Calumet National Heritage Area Feasibility Study Released
The Calumet Heritage Partnership is pleased to release a revised version of the feasibility study for a Calumet National Heritage Area. This version contains revisions suggested by the National Park Service and includes the study, a summary of public comments received, a response to the comments, and 79 letters of support. We would like to thank everyone who was involved in helping to complete this study including those of you who showed up to public meetings, submitted, comments, and shared letters of support. If you did not get a chance to submit a letter, you can still do so using the link below.
New Calumet Heritage Area Website LaunchedA new website for the Calumet Heritage Area has launched. The website found at calumetheritageare.org is a joint effort of the Calumet Heritage Partnership, The Calumet Collaborative, and the Field Museum who are all partners in creating the Calumet National Heritage Area.

About the Calumet National Heritage Area Feasibility Study
The Calumet Heritage Partnership has initiated a feasibility study to create a National Heritage Area. According to the National Park Service, National Heritage Areas (NHAs) are regions “designated by Congress as places where natural, cultural, and historic resources combine to form a cohesive, nationally important landscape.”

The Calumet Heritage Partnership is a diverse bi-state partnership of environmental organizations, historical societies, arts organizations, libraries, educational institutions, government agencies, businesses, and individuals working together across political and cultural boundaries in the Calumet Region of Illinois and Indiana.
The mission of the Calumet Heritage Partnership is to enrich lives through stewardship and interpretation of the Calumet Region’s Heritage.
Calumet Regional Heritage
The Calumet Heritage Partnership serves the bi-state Calumet Region of Indiana and Illinois. It seeks to unite people from both sides of the state line to help tell the story of the Calumet Region.
The Calumet Heritage Partnership salvaged records and artifacts from the region’s steel heritage and is working to preserve them.
Industrial Heritage Archives of the Calumet Region (hosted at Pullman)
The Calumet Heritage Partnership helps Region individuals and organizations to connect with each other.
Conference & Events
The Calumet Heritage Partnership sponsors the Calumet Heritage Conference Each Fall and a series of events throughout the year.
